Trump's weaponisation of the Justice Department over the Epstein files represents a constitutional crisis that threatens the very foundations of democratic accountability.
Unlike the USA, our constitution has never been written down anywhere. I believe that throughout history people seeking total power over the people they claim to represent (from Julius Caesar to Erdogan and others) the first thing to go is democracy, transparency follows and the checks and balances are never far behind (today this is the American Justice Department, tomorrow it could be the Crown Prosecution Service). This is straight out of the 2025 manifesto and the Fascist playbook. We have to keep an eye on our government here in the UK because what happens in the US today can quickly follow to our shores.
The solution for the UK is a strong People's Council that can set its own agenda and assess whether institutions are truly independent, see sparklingbooks.com/rd.html
The UK government has already broken the independents of judiciary from its executive power. Now, either courts have been working under the directives of the government, such as peaceful protests by stop the oil group whose members were not allowed to say what they were involved in the movement.. could call judiciary is independent. No. The UK government is acting unlawfully, controlling judiciary & not allowing the partliament debate issues. The government is bringing bills a couple of days before the parliament to debate... dictaship... what about suspending MPs.. are not allowed to be critical about draft bills. The UK has gone too far, ruling the country as if Reform on the power..
I can't escape the notion that, for whatever emotional or political reason, people in all the nations mentioned have let it happen; despite knowing that what they did by electing such politically far-whatever sort of government they would be cutting out issues like transparency and rule of law as it previously existed. If you prefer the nonsense that your bubble on the social media is blasting into your mind, above some decent reporting that can be checked on the sources of its content, then don’t be surprised that some day soon you find that your most intimate freedoms, that despite everything you took as a given in your society, may fall away. Even in Russia people are now finding out that this is happening and that it is interfering with their lives in a most dreadful way. For that reason, keep an eye on the way policing develops: it’s the way all the European (and now American) autocrats underpin their power.

A strong people’s council? Who decides what people will fill the benches there?
The people. Elections. Read the book, a lot of thought went into it, but the establishment do not want to know. See sparklingbooks.com/rd.html
In the situation as it is these days I can well see that the establishment has a big problem with the idea. I wish you and yours a lot of success!
