After former Reform MEP Gill’s guilty pleas for taking Russian bribes and following Farage’s logic, can we now assume all Reform politicians accept Russian bribes?

Very well written. As you've said in the article, 'you can't tar everyone with the same brush'. Yes there are illegal immigrants and this needs to be dealt with, particularly the cost, but there are also plenty that are parents and children trying to escape the atrocities in their countries.

Many do come here to work and pay their taxes.

Farage is dangerous, end of. I always said he was a 'one trick pony' .

Another wonderful article, thank you Mark. As close in our past as 2019 we had the legal power to deport EVERY illegal coming here under the Dublin Agreement. That right was removed by (drum roll here please) BREXIT and Garbage was the prime instigator of that farce.

Thank you, Dave...as always, you hit the nail on the head.

I find Farage's opportunism loathsome, but more than that the way he and others have make it okay for people to say racist, xenophobic comments out loud.

Thank you - this black sheep story is an effective way of making the point that those of us currently engaged in politics find ourselves often trying to express on the doorstep when faced with Farage fans.

You & Farage are ignoring the fact that quite a large number of British people would like to see Farage 'out of action' by whatever means. Khan was a danger to one evil destructive unprincipled person. Farage is a danger to our whole country as a jus, friendly & humanitarian outfit. It's Hitler all over again. laugh at the silly mad one who's so ridiculous he'll never get anywhere. To giving him the power to commit genocide, aided by the Nation. But yes, people do pick on one trait about someone they don't like and say 'These people...' whether black, from The North, gay, with ginger hair or entrepreneurs. These traits have nothing to do with their crime, etc.

You may well be correct, Trevor. The almost limitless diversity of humanity suggests you probably are. I would be content if people - ordinary people, the media, fellow politicians - just took the action necessary to stop him misusing our dilapidated democratic system to accrue attention, influence and power his ideas and his character suggest he has no right to.

In particular many women feel threatened by TransWomen in their single sex facilities. The majority of TransWomen may pose no threat and suffer threats in male single sex facilities. This is like the black sheep problem.

Farage was in the US demanding more critical thinking in our school curriculum! Reminds me of a saying my Mum used” don’t listen to what they say-just watch the way they go”

Dont forget the meaning in the claim that only one side of the sheep is black!

Mark Kieran's avatar

What do YOU take from that, Patrick?

Applying their logic, All Reform voters are racist thugs.

Technically you should say all racist thugs are Reform voters, I know its a play on words but I'm sure many Reform voters are just ill-informed, read the Mail and watch GB News.

Labour are not doing anything like enough to counter NF and Reform. If they concentrated on a bit more socialism and less pandering to American tech bros and big business, Reform wouldn't be able to milk the situation. Fervently hope that Plaid comes top in Wales.

Also, where is Ed Davey's Reform Watch? There must be a lot of evidence from those Reform led Councils by now. Thought the piece far too long.

All eyes on Kent CC right now, I think.

Farage's relentless othering of immigrants is the most chilling thing. And so difficult to counter.

Excellent illustration of how prejudice spreads.

An excellent piece. It is also the (false?) simplicity of Farage's arguments that can appeal. However, remember Farage has, politically achieved nothing. His time as an MEP was pathetic and other MEPs were sensible enough to see that he was irrelevant. Let's hope that is increasingly how he is seen here.
